AI Social Media Content Generator: Write, Design, Auto-Publish

An AI social media content generator is only half the job. Writing captions is the easy part; the time goes into fixing the tone, making graphics, getting sign-off and putting everything on the calendar. The setup that actually saves hours connects all of that: Brand Voice, then a week of drafts, then design, then review, then a queue that publishes on its own.

This guide shows that workflow step by step, so you can generate social media posts with AI and publish automatically without anything going out that you haven't read. We'll use GoBrandIt for the examples because it's our tool, but the steps work in any scheduler with an AI writer and auto-publishing. There's a tools table near the end.

Plan on about an hour for your first week. Most of it is setting up Brand Voice, which you only do once.

The short version

Set up your Brand Voice first; generic AI copy comes from an empty brief.

Generate a week at a time, then adapt each post per network instead of copy-pasting.

Keep a human review step before the queue, and check every fact, price and date.

Label realistic AI images and video where TikTok and Meta require it.

The 6-step AI workflow at a glance

1. Brand Voice: tell the AI who you are and how you sound.

2. Generate: draft a week of posts from a short plan.

3. Adapt: rewrite each post for each network's length and style.

4. Design: turn drafts into graphics from templates.

5. Review and approve: a person checks facts, tone and visuals.

6. Queue and publish: posts fill your posting times and go out automatically.

Skip step 1 and you'll spend longer editing than writing. Skip step 5 and sooner or later the AI will announce a sale price you never offered.

Step 1: Give your AI social media content generator a Brand Voice

AI writes generic copy when it gets a generic brief. A Brand Voice is the brief it reads every time: what you sell, who buys it, how you talk, and what you never say.

In GoBrandIt, you describe your business, personality and tone once, and "Autocomplete with AI" can draft it from a few lines. Every AI caption after that is written in it. Here's a short example for a Thamel café:

Business: Small café in Thamel, single-origin Nepali coffee, homemade cakes, quiet upstairs seating.

Audience: Trekkers, remote workers, locals on weekends.

Tone: Warm, a bit funny, never pushy. Short sentences.

Never: Fake urgency, "best in Nepal" claims, more than three hashtags.

Tip

When you describe your tone, quote a line or two from your best past captions. Real examples steer the AI better than adjectives.

Step 2: Generate a week of posts

Don't ask for "some posts". Give the AI a plan with one line per day and let it write the drafts. A prompt that works:

"Write 5 posts for next week. Mon: new cardamom latte. Tue: staff pick, Pema's carrot cake. Wed: tip for working remotely from our upstairs room. Thu: customer photo repost (ask permission in caption). Fri: weekend live music, 6 to 9 pm."

Then use the composer to shape each one. GoBrandIt keeps one post with a separate version per network, shows a character counter for each, and "Adapt with AI" rewrites the post to suit each network. A LinkedIn version gets longer and calmer, an X version gets shorter. Save hashtag sets you use often as hashtag groups instead of asking the AI for new ones every time.

If you want more on prompts, our guide to writing social media captions with AI goes deeper, and social media post ideas helps when the plan itself is blank.

Step 3: Design the posts

A caption without a visual rarely does well on Instagram or Facebook. The slowest part of most weeks is the graphics, so this is where templates save the most time.

Pick a template in the size you need: square, portrait, Story or Reel, horizontal, Pin and more.

Apply your Brand Kit so the logo, colours and fonts are right every time.

Use "Design with AI" to fill the template's words from your caption.

On paid plans with AI images, remove a background or expand a photo to fit the size.

Click "Use in post" to drop the design straight into the draft.

GoBrandIt's Social Designer has 300+ templates, including carousels up to 10 pages. If your team already designs in Canva, connect it instead and pull designs in from there.

Step 4: Review, approve, and check the facts

This is the step people want to automate, and the one you shouldn't. AI drafts confidently, and confident mistakes are the worst kind on a public page. Before anything is queued, someone reads every post and checks:

Facts: prices, dates, opening hours, product names, addresses.

Claims: no "best", "guaranteed" or health claims you can't back up.

People: names spelled right, permission for any customer photo.

Tone: does it sound like you on a good day, or like a press release?

Disclosure: is there a realistic AI image or video that needs a label?

On a team, use an approval workflow so posts wait for sign-off. For clients, GoBrandIt's client review links show a feed-style preview, and the client approves or comments without creating an account. See how it's set up on our approvals and team collaboration page.

When to label AI content

The rules are getting stricter. TikTok's help center requires creators to label realistic images, audio and video made or significantly edited with AI. Meta's misinformation policy requires people to use its AI-disclosure tool when they post photorealistic video or realistic-sounding audio that was digitally created or altered. AI-written captions and obviously illustrated graphics generally aren't the concern. A fake photo of your shop packed with customers is.

Step 5: Queue and publish automatically

This is the step that lets you generate social media posts with AI and publish automatically, without babysitting the clock. Once posts are approved, stop picking times by hand. Set a Posting Schedule once (the times you want posts to go out each day, in your time zone), then use Add to Queue and each post drops into the next free slot. Need a fixed moment, like a launch? Schedule that one post for an exact time, or Post now.

Repeat a post on a schedule, like a weekly menu or opening-hours reminder.

Share again evergreen posts that did well months ago.

Retry a failed post on only the accounts that failed, without duplicating it on the rest.

Best time to post suggestions once you have about 10 posts with stats from the past year.

Then watch the calendar, not the clock. The content calendar shows the month, and you can drag a post to a new day if plans change.

If you only need captions, any of these will do. The difference shows when you want the AI to remember your brand, design the graphic, and push the post through approval to the queue in one place. That's what we built GoBrandIt around, and our wider take on AI for social media content covers where AI helps and where it doesn't.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best AI social media content generator?

The best one is built into the tool you publish from, so drafts, designs and approvals stay in one place. Buffer, Hootsuite, Later, Metricool, Publer, SocialPilot and GoBrandIt all include an AI writer; compare what each one costs and whether it learns your brand voice.

Can AI post to social media automatically?

Yes. Once a post is approved and queued, a scheduler publishes it at the set time. We'd always keep a human review step between the AI draft and the queue.

Do I have to label AI-generated posts?

On TikTok, realistic AI images, audio and video must be labeled. Meta requires you to disclose photorealistic video and realistic-sounding audio made or altered digitally. AI-written captions generally don't need a label.

How many AI credits does a caption use in GoBrandIt?

A short caption costs under 1 credit (1 credit is 1,000 tokens of AI work). Images cost more. Credits refill on the 1st of each month.

Will AI posts sound generic?

They will if the AI knows nothing about you. Fill in a Brand Voice with your audience, tone, banned phrases and a few real past captions, and edit the first drafts closely.
